Possible burial site of Hawaiian kings

The following should be of interest to treasure hunters, historians and archaeologists. One of the largest and most im.portant treasures in the Hawaiian Islands, that is not too well known but which would be worth a fortune today, both from a monetary and an archaeological viewpoint, is the burial chamber of Hawaii? most famous ruler, King Kamehameah, who died in 1819. It is a vast treasure of jewels, pearls, diamonds and rare arti.facts. It is reported to also contain his warrior robes ornately decorated with feathers from two colorful and now extinct birds.

Legend has it that the burial is in a cave in a rain forest. Not much is actually known about the circumstances of his burial, except that when he died there was a great ceremony, then a great burial party departed to bury their beloved king in a secret place.

Also, it is possible that he wasn? buried in a cave as some think, because many Hawaiians buried their dead in hand-dug underground chambers. Much research will be required on this one. A good place to start might be the Bishop Museum on Oahu; also, the History and Archaeology Departments of the University of Hawaii might have something on it.

Author? Note: An incident that lends credence to this burial happened in 1941. The U.S. Army found a burial site (similar to the way ancient Hawaiians buried their dead) near the Cinder Cave lava beds south of the village of Makena.
